I have a Sony HDTV connected to my Denon 2310CI receiver to which I have connected my intel Mac Mini (with Intel 945M Chipset) using a DVI to HDMI cable.
I have the latest Intel driver (xxx.1930 dated 11/2009) for the chipset.
When I connect the computer directly to the TV, the Windows Display properties show Sony HDTV and the resolution gets set to 1920x1080 automatically.
When I connect the computer via the Denon receiver, the screen is blank. I see 'Starting Windows' screen but as soon as Windows starts up, the screen goes blank. I can remote desktop to it from another computer. I do that, and via msconfig I am able to select 'Base Video' in the boot properties and that at least allows me to show the desktop. It shows at 640x480. I can log in and change the resolution to 800x600. Any other resolution, even though it is available on the slider scale (under Screen Resolution) all the way up to 1920x1080, is not selectable. I select it, the screen goes blank and the resolution resets to 800x600.
I have tried EDID overrides but it seems the overrides are not 'sticking'.
Any suggestions?

About shared memory

Some Intel-based Mac computers feature both an integrated and a discrete Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Others may feature only one GPU, which can be either an integrated or discrete GPU.
A discrete GPU provides high-performance graphics support using discrete video memory. An integrated GPU provides effective graphics support and shares video memory with the main system.
For Mac computers with both integrated and discrete GPUs, some models allow you to use macOS to decide which GPU to use for rendering graphics. Graphics performance

For best graphics performance, your computer should have two same-size SO-DIMMs installed, one in each slot. When memory is installed in your Mac in same-size pairs, the computer gains some performance benefits from the memory being interleaved.

If you upgrade the memory in your Mac, make sure you have matching SO-DIMMs (both in memory size and speed) in each slot for the best graphics performance. Systems with integrated memory already benefit from having matched pairs of memory installed.
